Bible Chat on Forgiveness

ÔFather forgive for what we must do, you forgive us and weÕll forgive you.

WeÕll forgive each other Ôtil we both turn blue, then youÕll bring us all one day into heaven.Õ  (Folk musician John Prine)

Forgiveness is a multi-faceted spiritual exercise requiring honesty, courage, and a willingness to make changes.

+  Your Own Sense of Forgiveness is a Vital Component

Luke 15:3-7,  Matthew 6:12,  Mt. 4:17,  Lk. 14:8-10,  Mt. 18:15-18(not something to hide-you must ask). James5:16-17, Acts 19:18, 2Corinthians 7:10, lk 24:47

+It Is Also Forgiving Others

Mt.6:14-15,  Lk 17:3+4, Mark 11:25(even if the other is not asking to be forgiven),

+Forgiveness Is A Requirement, Not An Option For People Of Faith:

   Matt.5:21-24,  Ephesians 4:32

+Jesus had the power to forgive (Mt.9:2, Luke 5:20).  He granted this power to his Disciples (Mt16:18,  Mt. 18:18, John 20:22+23, And therefore, says Church doctrine the Ordained of the Church (1) have the power to forgive sins. (2) Have the authority to ask God to forgive sins for people.

ÒForgive us our Trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against usÉÓ   Will forgiveness lead to reconciliation? The ÔresultsÕ are not the point for people of faith, results are up to God. Our calling is to try and try again to be people of forgiveness.
